‘95% For Mr. Biden’: Trump’s Lawyer Hits Back At CBS Host After Floating Venue Change

A lawyer for former President Donald Trump hit back at CBS News White House correspondent Ed O’Keefe over his question about a change in venue.

A grand jury indicted Trump on four charges related to an alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election. O’Keefe questioned whether the former president’s legal team will seek a venue change to avoid being tried in the politically left-leaning Washington D.C.

“That’s one of the first things we want to do,” attorney John Lauro told O’Keefe Tuesday.

Lauro suggested changing the venue to West Virginia, which he said is in close proximity to Washington D.C.

“West Virginia. Which is like the political opposite of Washington D.C.,” O’Keefe said.

“Well, listen, it’s much more diverse than Washington D.C. which I think with 95% for Mr. Biden. Or there’s other places. The bottom line is, the [former] president, like everyone sitting in this room is entitled to a fair trial, and we’re gonna get that,” Lauro said.

Biden won 93% of the D.C. vote in the 2020 presidential election, Politico reported. Over half of D.C. voters, 56%, identify as Democrat and 28% are Republican, according to Pew Research.

Special Counsel Jack Smith oversaw the investigation into Trump after President Joe Biden’s Justice Department appointed him to the position. He told the public Monday that the indictment is “ensuring accountability” for the “unprecedented assault” on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The Justice Department charged Trump at the same time that new details have emerged regarding Hunter Biden and his father’s involvement in his overseas business dealings. His former business associate, Devon Archer, testified before the House Oversight Committee Monday that Hunter called his father while surrounded by his foreign business partners on more than 20 different occasions. Hunter reportedly told his father the business officials “need[ed their] help” in a 2015 phone call.

Biden had denied communicating with his son about the business dealings or that his family had made money from China. Hunter Biden did in fact receive millions of dollars from Chinese energy officials.
