Backlash Builds Against Harry’s Razors Over Woke Promotional Video
Backlash continues to build against Harry’s Razors over the brand’s previous promotion of the transgender activist group the Trevor Project, a group that supports transgender treatments for minors.
Conservative commentators and other social media users called out the razor company after a video highlighted by social media account End Wokeness went viral showing a woman who identifies as a man shaving her face in an Instagram video sponsored by Harry’s Razors. The video is captioned “celebrating my first Pride with facial hair!”
The Instagram video, which first came out in June 2022, features Luke Wesley Pearson, a woman who identifies as a man, and who appears to have already undergone so-called “top surgery” to remove her breasts. The promotional campaign promised that “100% of profits” from the purchase of the advertised face and body shave kits are donated to the Trevor Project.
The video, which quickly racked up millions of views, was widely lambasted by conservative media figures and other social media users.
“Promising to fund the further corruption of children is a helluva marketing strategy …,” Daily Caller Editor in Chief Geoffrey Ingersoll tweeted.
“Time to go full #BudLight on @Harrys. Pause to observe the scars where healthy breasts were willfully mutilated to indulge a mental illness. With sick irony, their profile says ‘1% of sales support organizations that improve men’s mental health.’ You know what to do,” Texas radio host Mark Davis said.
“This is fitting because once these women go on T and start growing facial hair, it never stops coming in — even if they decide to detransition. Harry’s is expanding their life long customer base. Very smart $$$$$ Evil. But $$mart,” said Terry Schilling, the president of the American Principles Project.
Other commentators criticized Harry’s over another video circulated by End Wokeness showing executive leadership at the company referring to mothers as “birthing parents” and fathers as “non-birthing parents.”
“Harry’s Razors bout to get the Bud Light treatment,” conservative commentators the Hodge Twins said.
“Never buy Harry’s Razors,” said Chris Elston, a social commentator who frequently speaks out about the impact of gender ideology on children.
Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro responded to the post from End Wokeness featuring Pearson pointing to Jeremy’s Razors — the razor company created by Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing when Harry’s pulled advertising from the site and publicly attacked the company.
“There’s a reason we started [Jeremy’s Razors],” Shapiro said. “Because you shouldn’t give your money to companies that glorify mutilation and sterilization. #GoWokeGoBroke”
Boreing responded to Harry’s as well, saying, “It’s like they want to make me rich… (That’s the most charitable read).”
