Biden Speech Showcases President Forgetting When He Was Inaugurated, Where He Served In The Senate

 President Joe Biden delivered a gaffe-filled speech during a Labor Day appearance in Philadelphia — where, in addition to giving the wrong date for his own inauguration, he appeared to forget which state initially elected him to serve in the U.S. Senate.

“I wouldn’t have been elected to the United States Senate in the first place were it not for Philadelphia,” Biden claimed, adding, “That’s not a joke.”

The only problem with Biden’s claim is the fact that, despite claiming Scranton as his hometown, he never represented the state of Pennsylvania. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in neighboring Delaware when he was 29, and has never represented any other state.

Biden went on to thank the crowd for helping him make it to the White House — but whiffed on the date that he had actually arrived there, missing the mark by a full year.

“… since you got me sworn-in in January of 2020!” he said — although Biden won the 2020 election, his inauguration did not take place until January 0f 2021.

Biden continued to tout his economics policies — despite the rampant inflation and gas prices that are still causing pain to American families — and claim as he has before that “Bidenomics … is working.”

 

Saying that “everyone on Wall Street” was calling his agenda “Bidenomics” as well, the president added, “And guess what? It’s working!”

As the Republican National Committee pointed out, “Since Biden took office, overall inflation is up almost 16% while grocery prices are up nearly 20%.”

Biden once again brought out his oft-repeated claim that he “cut the deficit $1.7 trillion” — after which he appeared to correct himself and then claim he’d “cut the debt $1.7 trillion.”

But the national debt has not decreased at all — in fact, it has increased by just under $2.5 trillion since Biden took office. Any decrease in the deficit has been attributed to the end of COVID-relief funds — and the actual deficit reduction under Biden had been much less than the Congressional Budget Office had predicted. CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale noted in May of 2022 that the disparity was a direct result of economic policies implemented by the Biden administration.
