Plumber finds fetus inside pipe after tenants complain about drainage issues at Houston apartments
A plumber made a disturbing discovery in the pipes of an apartment complex in Texas after neighbors complained of drainage issues.
The harrowing incident was reported to investigators on Monday at about 10:30 a.m. after the plumber said that he found a fetus in an outside pipe of the Glen Cove Apartments in Spring, a suburb of Houston.
The fetus was believed to be just weeks old.
Neighbors had been complaining about drainage issues since Friday. Neighbors said a woman was transported away from the apartments in an ambulance after the discovery.
Detectives told KHOU-TV that the incident was possibly related to a miscarriage but that the investigation was ongoing. Officials said they knew who the parents of the fetus were but they were still trying to determine what happened.
Residents and neighbors were shocked.
"All I saw when I looked out my window, which is right up there, was all the police cars. Like, what the heck is going on?" said Linda McQueen. "Never thought anything like this in a million years."
"We hope whoever it is come forward and get some medical attention," said Paula Smith, another resident. "Because that's sad to lose a baby like that and not tell nobody."
KHOU also reported that another woman was being led away from the apartments in handcuffs, but it was unclear if it was related to the incident involving the fetus.
A similar case was reported in January at an apartment complex when a tenant trying to fix plumbing issues there found the remains of a fetus near a drainage pipe.
