Thug relentlessly punches, stomps female cashier as accomplices run off with less than $100 from register: 'Kids don’t seem to fear anything anymore'

Surveillance video captured the terrifying moments when a darkly clothed, hooded, masked individual got behind the counter of a Seattle-area gas station market Friday night and relentlessly punched, stomped, and kicked the female cashier.

When the assault concluded, the attacker and another five individuals ran from the scene with less than $100 from the register, KCPQ-TV reported

The attack took place at the Friendly Normandy Market in Normandy Park, the station said. Normandy Park is about 20 minutes south of Seattle.

Police told KCPQ the suspects are young and drove a stolen Kia and Hyundai, both of which were recovered later, adding that they also grabbed handfuls of merchandise from the cigarette case.

While the assault lasted only about 16 seconds, the attacker landed over 20 punches to the woman's face and head, along with two knees and three stomps to her midsection. She fell to the floor before the assault ended.

"I mean, my face hurts, but my pride, I think, hurts more," victim Leah Johnston told KCPQ.

She added that "kids don’t seem to fear anything anymore. There’s, like, no repercussions for them the way there used to be," the station noted.

Johnston also told KCPQ that "they were laughing. They had no [regard] for anything. They don’t care anymore."

Anything else?

Normandy Park Police Chief Dan Yourkoski told the station that a King County Sheriff’s Office special unit was dispatched to assist in the investigation.

Police do not believe a weapon was used in the attack, KCPQ added.

"I know of people who have been robbed," Johnston added to the station. "I know in the back of my mind it can always happen. But I never thought that I would be attacked the way I was attacked. I wasn’t prepared."

KCPQ said Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for info on the suspects and that you can text anonymous tips through the P3 Tips App or at P3Tips.com.
