FBI warns of increasing terrorist threats against US amid war in Middle East

The FBI recently come out with an ominous warning that the U.S. needs to be on its guard against potential copy-cat attacks following the surprise attacks and acts of terrorism carried out by Hamas in the Middle East.

Christopher Wray, head of the FBI, has suggested that law enforcement throughout the U.S. should be vigilant against the possibility of a ripple effect from the war that has been kicked off between Israel and Hamas, according to the New York Post

The warning occurred during an address given at the International Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference that took place in San Diego on Saturday.

"History has been witness to antisemitic and other forms of violent extremism for far too long," Wray said. "Whether that be from foreign terrorist organizations, or those inspired by them, or domestic violent extremists motivated by their own racial animus, the targeting of a community because of their faith is completely unacceptable."

"We remain committed to continue confronting those threats—both here in the United States and overseas."

"In this heightened environment, there’s no question we’re seeing an increase in reported threats, and we have to be on the lookout, especially for lone actors who may take inspiration from recent events to commit violence of their own," Wray continued, according to a transcript of the event.

"And I’d encourage you to stay vigilant, because as the first line of defense in protecting our communities, you’re often the first to see the signs that someone may be mobilizing to violence. And I’d also ask you to continue sharing any intelligence or observations you may have."

"On our end, we’re committed to doing the same, so that together, we can safeguard our communities."

Wray's comments about the potential of terrorism came just a single day after former Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal claimed that there was to be a "Day of Jihad" on October 13.

Blaze News previously reported that Meshaal perviously served as the chief of Hamas from 2004-2017. However, he has moved on to take over the Hamas diaspora office in Qatar.

Meshaal has previously called for those in support of Palestinians to join the fight against the Jewish state, adding that peoples and regimes in Syria, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon should step and take action in the fight.

Protests and other demonstrations in support of Palestine have cropped up in Europe and the U.S.
