Israel Calls On Russia To Protect Israelis And Jews From Attacks; Comes After Russia Hosted Hamas, Iran

Israel’s government called on the Russian government to do its job and protect Jews and Israeli citizens within its borders after a mob chanting “Allahu Akbar” hunted down Jews in the majority-Muslim region of Dagestan.

“The State of Israel views with utmost gravity attempts to harm Israeli citizens and Jews anywhere,” Israel’s government said in a statement. “The Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Council are monitoring the development of events in southern Russia, in the Dagestan district.”

“Israel expects the Russian legal authorities to safeguard the well-being of all Israeli citizens and Jews wherever they are and to take strong action against the rioters and against the wild incitement being directed against Jews and Israelis,” the statement added. “Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alex Ben Zvi is working with the Russian authorities to secure the well-being of Jews and Israelis at the site.”

The statement came after the mobs searched for Jews at hotels and demanded to see everyone’s passports after they got word that Israelis might have arrived in the area to escape the war in their home country.

Videos posted to social media allegedly showed those who showed up to the airport saying that they were looking to kill Jews.

The modern day pogrom comes after Russia hosted officials from the Hamas terrorist organization last weekend after the terror group murdered more than 1,400 Israelis, wounded 5,200+ more, and kidnapped more than 200 in an unprecedented terror attack on October 7.

Hamas said that their meeting was about “Zionist crimes supported by the United States and the West.” Hamas, which has been compared to ISIS following the attacks due to how barbaric the attacks were, praised Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin for warning Israel not to go into Gaza and kill the terrorists responsible for the attacks.

Yaroslav Trofimov, chief foreign affairs correspondent of The Wall Street Journal, highlighted other attacks on Jews and signs that were seen in Dagestan that said: “Entry to citizens of Israel (Jews) strictly forbidden.”

“A Jewish cultural center under construction in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria region of Russia, went up in flames,” Trofimov added. “‘Death to Yahoods (Jews),’ the graffiti says. Northern Caucasus has its own autochthonous Jewish community that lives there for millennia.”
