A Utah Couple Traveling To Tell Family Of Pregnancy Died In Car Crash Before Christmas

Tragedy struck the Stott Family just before Christmas when Chloe and Parker Stott were killed in a car crash as they traveled to tell family they were expecting a baby.

The Utah couple was driving to Arizona to tell family they were expecting a baby boy, KUTV reported, when their vehicle struck a commercial truck tractor. Chloe died on impact and Parker was taken to a hospital, where he died days later.

The fatal crash occurred on December 20 around 8:20 p.m. in Wickenburg, Arizona, about 60 miles northwest of Phoenix. The couple, driving a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck, was passing vehicles in a legal passing zone, KUTV reported.

Raul Garcia, a spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety, told KSL-TV that at one point, the Stott’s vehicle “failed to complete the pass and collided head-on with a white Volvo commercial truck tractor pulling a trailer loaded with home goods.”

Parker survived the initial crash with critical injuries and severe burns, which resulted in his right leg being amputated. He also broke nearly every other bone in his body, but had no injuries to his face, head, or neck. Social media accounts reportedly belonging to family of the couple announced Parker’s death on December 24.

A GoFundMe account was set up to help pay Parker’s medical bills before he died, with family members describing the tragedy.

“They had just found out they were pregnant with a baby and were so excited to be parents and share the news with their loved ones over Christmas,” a description of the fundraiser reads. “At 8:30pm Wednesday evening they were involved in a tragic car accident that took the life of Chloe and their precious baby boy.”

The driver of the commercial truck tractor was taken to the hospital as a precaution, the outlet reported.

The couple’s two dogs were also in the vehicle when it crashed, but survived with minor injuries and are with the Stott family, according to a Facebook account posting updates about the couple.

Chloe owned the Clover Skin Bar in Lindon, Utah, which she reportedly ran with her husband, a general contractor who renovated an empty commercial space the couple leased around a year and a half ago.

Scout Whiteley, the couple’s business manager and friend, told KSL-TV that Chloe was 10 weeks pregnant. Aleia Nilsson, a client of Chloe’s, told the outlet that the Stotts would have fresh flowers every week.

“She would always have the most amazing, like, seasonal crazy creation flowers,” Nilsson told the outlet. “I just can’t even believe that she’s gone. This was her dream and she would have been the most amazing mom. Like, without a doubt.”
