Bill Maher Blames Americans For Biden’s Dismal Approval Ratings: ‘Stop Acting Like Life In America In 2024 Is Unbearable’
Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher said on Friday that President Joe Biden is suffering poor approval numbers because Americans are “living with their head in the toilet.”
Maher lectured Americans during his monologue on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday night, saying that “things are generally pretty good,” adding, “wages are rising, unemployment is negligible, the stock market is soaring, we somehow brushed off both the Trump presidency and the pandemic.”
Maher, who earns around $10 million per year from HBO, acknowledged that inflation continues to hurt American families, but said that modern conveniences, such as the low price of a TV and next-day shipping should cheer up Americans who are complaining about the state of the economy under Biden.
“You’ve got next-day shipping, stuffed-crust pizza, legal weed, GPS, and porn on your phone,” Maher added. “Cheer the f*** up. Stop acting like life in America in 2024 is unbearable. Biden’s ratings are in the toilet not because he’s doing a bad job, but because many Americans like living with their head in the toilet.”
Biden’s approval rating continues to suffer amid multiple foreign and domestic crises, including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and the record number of illegal immigrants crossing the U.S. southern border. According to the RealClearPolitics average, the president’s approval rating is underwater by more than 15 points as some recent polls show his disapproval numbers reaching nearly 60%.
Polls also show Biden consistently trailing former President Donald Trump in vital swing states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin ahead of the 2024 election. Both Biden, 81, and Trump, 77, have secured their respective parties’ nominations, setting up a rematch of the 2020 presidential match between the two candidates.
Later in his monologue, Maher connected those who complain about the country under Biden to the the rise in depression and anxiety in the U.S. in recent years, saying that while “depression is of course a very real thing … earlier generations never suffered from the expectation that you’re supposed to feel good all the time.”
Many Americans blasted Maher’s monologue on social media.
“Sounds like Bill is doing ok cause everyone can buy a cheap tv to watch him!” wrote Karen Cook.
“For him, I’m sure things are fine. The Left hates the peasant class,” another person wrote on X.
“You can get a tv for $60 so don’t worry about your skyrocketing rent and grocery bill L O L,” said Western Journal reporter Michael Austin.
