Trump Blasts RFK Jr.: ‘Most Radical Left Candidate In The Race’
Just hours after independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his running mate, former President Donald Trump slammed Kennedy, calling him “the most radical Left candidate in the race.”
In a Tuesday announcement, Kennedy chose Nicole Shanahan, a lawyer and Democratic donor, to be his vice presidential running mate. Shanahan supported President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign against Trump and also donated $150,000 to the campaign of leftist Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon. Kennedy’s VP choice cements his position as a “radical Left Democrat,” according to Trump, but the former president believes the Kennedy/Shanahan ticket will be good for his campaign and hurt Biden.
“RFK Jr. is the most Radical Left Candidate in the race, by far. He’s a big fan of the Green New Scam, and other economy killing disasters. I guess this would mean he is going to be taking votes from Crooked Joe Biden, which would be a great service to America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“His running mate, Nicole Shanahan, is even more ‘Liberal’ than him, if that’s possible,” Trump added. “Kennedy is a Radical Left Democrat, and always will be!!! It’s great for MAGA, but the Communists will make it very hard for him to get on the Ballot. Expect him, and her, to be indicted any day now, probably for Environmental Fraud! He is Crooked Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, not mine. I love that he is running!”
Kennedy praised Shanahan’s expertise on technology and health issues, saying in his announcement, “She has spent the last decade relying on neural networks, artificial intelligence, and cutting edge science to identify abuses in our government.”
“She understands that the health of every American is a national security issue and a national security risk,” the independent candidate added. “Her work has proven time and again that health drives our economy and it is the foundation of our mental health, our national happiness, our ability to lead the world and innovation and prosperity and at peace.”
Kennedy, the son of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy, launched his presidential campaign as a Democrat before switching to an independent. Kennedy slammed the Democratic Party, saying it has merged into one with the Biden campaign, leaving no room for a challenger to run against the president.
The independent candidate has focused much of his campaign on challenging the federal government’s health policies, especially regarding its COVID vaccine push. Kennedy has also billed himself as “arguably the leading environmentalist in the country.” He is currently polling around 10% nationally in a 5-way race between him, Trump, Biden, Green Party candidate Jill Stein, and independent candidate Cornel West, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.
As the 2024 election nears, Kennedy’s campaign is continuing its effort to get the candidate on ballots across the country. Recently, the Kennedy campaign secured spots on the ballots in Arizona and Georgia, two vital swing states that Biden won in 2020 after Trump was victorious over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in each state in 2016.
