Left-leaning MSNBC, former RNC chair imply Trump wasn’t really hit by a bullet

New York City-based mainstream media outlet MSNBC and its broadcasters, particularly its political analyst and former Republican National Committee (RNC) chair Michael Steele, are questioning the credibility of former President Donald Trump's declaration that there was a failed assassination attempt.

The journalists implied that Trump was not shot in the ear. According to them, everything was staged and he had a fake blood pack that he immediately put on his ear when he hit the ground to make it appear like he was grazed by a bullet. There were also "conspiracy theories" that instead of the bullet, Trump was hit by shards of glass from the teleprompter. They cited that these were the reasons why the former president's doctors had not released any information about the supposed gunshot in the ear.

"It has been three days going on four since the horrific event occurred… and yet we have not received a medical report from the hospital nor we have not received a medical report from [Trump's] campaign or the Trump organization about the extent of the damage to his ear," Steele said. He also inquired if there was cosmetic surgery involved, the prognosis for recovery, or if there were stitches.

MSNBC host Ari Melber called Trump's ear bandage a "spectacle" after the former president made his first public appearance since a would-be assassin tried to gun him down during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

"A spectacle for this candidate who we know is, by his admission, obsessed with assorted spectacles," Melber said. "There is a political quest here to mine and use Donald Trump's injury, and whether his allies and Republicans or the candidate himself do that in a way that overextends their credibility, will be decided by the voters."

Some critics of Trump also jumped in to express the same sentiments and posted on X, formerly Twitter. CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner said: "It's an understatement to say that it’s bizarre that a presidential candidate has sustained an injury from an attempted assassination and no medical report is issued to describe his evaluation and the extent of his injury."

But Trump supporters slammed them, pointing to clear evidence such as pictures of a bullet flying past Trump. They argue that there were people in the crowd who were seriously wounded and one was even killed.

Co-owner of Trending Politics Collin Rugg also stated that 34 percent of "insane" Democrats even said in a survey that they think Trump staged his assassination attempt as per a new Morning Consult poll.

"The poll also proves that 34 percent of Democrats need to get their head checked," Rugg said. "The poll suggests that over 1/3 of Democratic voters think Trump is Neo from the Matrix, able to dodge a bullet with his head as the bullet travels 3000 feet per second."

Breitbart News' Senior Editor-at-Large Joel Pollak also debunked the claim that the glass from the teleprompter caused Trump's ear wound. "Note how these conspiracy theories never mention what glass it is that is supposed to have shattered. MSNBC reported that both teleprompters were intact." (

Trump Jr.: Trump Derangement Syndrome is real

Trump's son Donald Jr. denounced the media outlet after multiple commentators questioned the validity of the assassination attempt and the seriousness of his father's injury.

"He wasn't shot in the face enough for them, it wasn't enough?" he said during a "Fox & Friends" appearance. "That's the point. They can't help themselves. The Trump Derangement Syndrome is real. It's so asinine that they could say that… You see the photograph at the time. There's blood everywhere."

Trump Jr.'s remarks come after he had a tense exchange on-air with an MSNBC reporter just moments before he and his siblings were expected to pledge Florida's delegates in favor of his father when he officially clinched the Republican nomination.

"They can't stop," he said. "This is the same as what they did with Russia. Even when they knew it was wrong, they kept going. It was an impeachment one. It was impeachment two. They're trying to bankrupt our family. They're trying to take away my father's businesses."

And when that doesn't work, he added, they tried to throw him in jail. "And, of course, when someone spends years calling you Hitler and a fascist and of this and, by the way, not just my father, half of the country, what do you expect?" he said.
