British PM Condemns Anti-Immigration Protesters. He Championed BLM Protesters In 2020.

 After a young man of Rwandan descent knifed to death three young girls, ages 6,8, and 9, in Southport, England, on July 29, and anti-immigration demonstrations were mounted from Liverpool, England, to Belfast, Ireland, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the left-wing Labour Party condemned the protesters, calling the actions “far-right thuggery we have seen this weekend.”

The suspect arrested in the brutal murders lives in Banks, Lancashire; he was born to Rwandan parents in Cardiff, Wales. Eight other children were stabbed, as well as the teacher who tried to protect them; five of the children were left in critical condition.

“Be in no doubt: Those who have participated in this violence will face the full force of the law,” Starmer said. “I guarantee you will regret taking part in this disorder, whether directly or those whipping up this action online and then running away themselves. This is not protest. It is organized, violent thuggery.”

Yet in 2020, Starmer had a quite different reaction to the Black Lives Matter riots in the United States, saying, “Like you, I was shocked and angered at the killing of George Floyd. And the response of President Trump and the U.S. authorities to the peaceful protests, to people rightly demanding justice, has been an affront to humanity. The last week has shone a spotlight on the racism, discrimination and the injustice experienced by those from black and minority ethnic communities in the U.S., in the UK, and around the world. Martin Luther King said, ‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

 

He also stated, “This is not a moment for not standing with the Black Lives Matter movement and the injustice that is being exposed.”

Starmer tweeted on Monday, “This is not protest, it is pure violence. We will have a standing army of public duty officers. We will ramp up criminal justice. We will apply criminal law online as well as offline. We will not tolerate attacks on mosques or on Muslim communities.”

Labour MP Afzal Khan wrote Starmer demanding the government define islamophonia, stating that the government should adopt this definition: “Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.”
