Kennedy Center Employee Fired For ‘Extremely Disturbing’ Nude Rant Against Trump

The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., has fired a contractor who stripped naked and recorded a 35-minute-long rant against President Donald Trump.

Tavish Forsyth, 32, was previously an associate artistic lead at the Washington National Opera’s Opera Institute, where he worked with minors.

The former employee identifies as “queer” and is also a faculty member at Johns Hopkins University, per The National Pulse, where he lists his pronouns as “they/them.” Forsyth posted the spoken word poetry performance to document his frustration over recent changes at the Kennedy Center, especially a ban on drag performances, the outlet noted.

The video included Forsyth saying he was “angry and confused.”

“F*** Donald Trump and the Kennedy Center,” he said at one point, saying the Trump administration “is systematically targeting the livelihood and liberty of poor people, queer people, black and brown people, people of color, immigrants, Muslims, victims in war-torn countries, victims of ethnic cleansing, women.”

“Now that I’ve said all this, people will name me radical. Crazy. Antifa. Terrorist. Pot-smoking hippie. Whatever the f***,” Forsyth added. “To which I say: f*** it.”

“Oppression is the mask of fear. I will not hide behind the mask,” he added.

Roma Daravi, vice president of public relations at the Kennedy Center, told the New York Post the video was “extremely disturbing” and that it “does not represent the values of the Kennedy Center.”

“Most concerning of all, his contracted position was specifically to work with minors,” Daravi said. “Who knows what kind of radical ideology they have been pushing on the youth? Not anymore. They’re fired.”

Forsyth told the Los Angeles Times that the Kennedy Center gig “is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had.”

“Specifically with my team, the Opera Institute, there was just so much love and support, and a sincere commitment to reimagine the ways that we create art, and also to take a really critical look at some of the more problematic ways that we’ve created art in the past,” he said.

He continued, saying, “Any implication that I am corrupting the youth is laughably false, intentionally misleading, and is underscored by decades of hate targeted at LGBTQ+ educators.”

Last month, Trump announced that he had terminated most members of the Board of Trustees at the Kennedy Center and had taken over the role himself.

“Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP,” he posted on social media at the time. “The Kennedy Center is an American Jewel, and must reflect the brightest STARS on its stage from all across our Nation. For the Kennedy Center, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!”
